At Huswerks, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your information when you use our website, application, and services (collectively, the “Service”).
Huswerks is a home management platform that helps homeowners, renters, and landlords track maintenance, manage projects, store documents, and organize property records.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name and email address.
- Authentication Data: We use secure third-party authentication services to manage your sign-in credentials. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
- Property & Home Data: Information you enter about your properties, including addresses, appliance details, maintenance records, project budgets, contractor information, tenant and lease details, and rent payments.
- Documents & Files: Receipts, warranties, permits, photos, and other files you upload to the Service. These are stored securely on our cloud infrastructure.
- AI-Processed Data: When you use our AI scanning features (appliance nameplate scanning or receipt scanning), images are sent to secure third-party AI services for processing. We do not retain the images after processing is complete.
- Payment Information: Subscription billing is handled entirely by our secure payment processing partners. We do not store your credit card number, expiration date, or CVC on our servers. We retain only your customer ID and subscription status.
- Usage Data: Activity logs such as sign-ins, feature usage, and account changes. We do not use third-party analytics trackers.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Providing, operating, and maintaining the Service
- Processing subscription payments and managing billing
- Sending transactional emails (maintenance reminders, account notifications)
- Generating home reports and data exports you request
- Processing appliance and receipt images through AI for data extraction
- Enforcing plan limits (storage, property, project, and unit counts)
- Responding to support requests and contact form submissions
- Detecting and preventing fraud or abuse
We do not sell your personal data. We do not serve advertisements. We do not use your property data to build profiles for third parties.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is hosted on secure, industry-leading cloud infrastructure located in the United States.
- Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256).
- Row-Level Security: Database access is enforced at the row level — your records are only readable by your authenticated session.
- Backups: Automated daily database backups are maintained by our infrastructure provider.
- Access Control: Each account is single-user. There are no team or multi-user features that could expose your data to other accounts.
No system is 100% secure. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, but cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Document Storage Limits
Storage limits vary by plan:
- Free Plan: 500 MB
- Pro: 15 GB
- Landlord: 15 GB
We do not scan, review, or analyze the content of your documents for purposes other than providing the Service (e.g., generating previews or processing AI scan requests you initiate), except where required by law.
6. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the platform. Each processes only the minimum data required:
- Cloud Infrastructure Providers — For authentication, database hosting, file storage, application hosting, and edge networking.
- Payment Processors — For secure payment processing and subscription management. Subject to their respective privacy policies.
- Email Service Providers — For transactional email delivery (maintenance reminders, account notifications).
- AI Processing Services — For AI image processing in our appliance nameplate and receipt scanning features. Images are processed on demand and not retained by Huswerks after processing.
- Security Services — For bot protection on the contact form. No tracking cookies are set.
7. Cookies
We use only essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party tracking pixels.
Authentication cookies are set as httpOnly, secure, and sameSite=lax to prevent cross-site attacks.
8. Your Data Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate information.
- Deletion: Request that we delete your account and all associated data. You can initiate this from your Account Settings page.
- Export: Download your data as CSV or PDF at any time from within the application.
- Portability: Receive your data in a structured, commonly used format.
- Objection: Object to processing of your personal information.
- Unsubscribe: Opt out of non-essential email notifications at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email or from your Account Settings.

9. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data (properties, projects, documents, maintenance records, and personal information) is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.
We may retain certain records as required by law (e.g., billing records for tax compliance) even after account deletion.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will promptly delete that information.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
